No.24 Referenced from ~ Part1 - Chapter 3 - Christianity Proposition 1 Resurrection: Principle of the establishment of the Apostles' faith - "Restoration of Known Truth" Type
Peter as told by Anton Chekhov's "The Student." Even when Jesus was about to be executed, he was in a doze. Later, when Peter tries to repress the painful memory of his betrayal of the Lord and rise to a new faith, his resolve would have been even more striking if Jesus had not been resurrected but had remained dead. From a literary point of view, it is preferable for the resolve of the regenerator to be underpinned by tragedy. However, the New Testament tells us that Jesus was resurrected, the disciples rejoiced, and Peter was given three opportunities to confess his faith, which would erase his three denials. In other words, the story told in the New Testament does not fit the literary narrative format. When we look at Christianity as literature, it has some disappointing aspects. However, this shows that the source of their restored faith was not simply emotional. |
