No.17 Referenced from ~ Part1 - Chapter 3 - Review 2 The kerygma of the apostles is not a second teaching after the teachings of Jesus
However, is the kerygma (the content of the apostles' mission) a paradoxical Christology as Bultmann says? Is it even a "teaching" in the first place? In the issue of "the discontinuity between Jesus' teachings and the kerygma," there is doubt about this first part of the problem statement. If it is true that "the Bible contains two different teachings by Jesus and the apostles," then the solution is surely limited to confirming the continuity between the two, as Bultmann's students did in their "Second Quest for the Historical Jesus." However, despite the fact that the continuity has been clarified by them, the validity of Bultmann's objection, "What has been achieved by that?" is still undeniable. Therefore, if there is no solution in this direction, we must consider the possibility that the initial setting was wrong in this matter, that is, that the apostles' "kerygma" is not a "teaching." |
